This is going to be LONG but … I’m so excited!! Stampin’ Up! is finally updating some of their core colors and adding 5 new In Colors. This all started on June 1, 2018. In addition to the new colors, they have also updated the design of the Classic Stamp Pad. I want you to have all the information that I do so … here goes.
THE DETAILS
There are still 4 color collections, each with ten colors. There is also a new color group called “Basics.”
In order to keep our color collections to exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors, we moved Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White out of the Neutrals collection. We’ve also moved a few colors into the Neutrals collection, making it more exciting and colorful!
Some additional colors have changed collections as well—you’ll notice this as you look through the new collections below. You can refer to the old and new color charts in the 2018-2019 catalog. These changes were based on needing to maintain color balance in our updated collections. For example, Poppy Parade is now the brightest red so it is part of the Brights collection.
2018-2019 Color Revamp (Summary)
NEW CLASSIC STAMPIN’ PADS
As you may have noticed, Stampin’ Up! redesigned the ink pad cases and improved the ink formula as well!!
Why did they change the case?
The case’s manufacturing mold was about to expire. Stampin’ Up! can only use a mold a limited number of times before they need to replace it, so they had to make a decision … did they want to order more of the same molds or did they want to improve the design. They chose to improve it! SMART!
Stampin’ Up! also wanted to align the updated case with the color revamp and improvements to the ink. In addition, they chose to time the changes with Stampin’ Up!’s rebranding and packaging updates. This way, when you invest in the new colors, you are also getting the new and improved ink pads at the same time! They truly had us, as their customers, in mind when making these changes.
What’s better about the case?
- Less confusing to open
- Tighter fit between the lid and the base
- Stackable
- Improved labels and stickers
Is the ink different?
YES!! A defoamer has been added to the ink ingredients – they noticed the old ink would sometimes bubble (especially on new ink pads and lighter colors). When this happened the ink wasn’t as smooth. The defoamer will …
- Reduce ink bubbles
- Gives you a smoother coating of ink on the stamp
- Helps the stamped image have a smoother, solid look
And finally … Another change is they will no longer make the Archival ink a part of their offering. Therefore, Basic Gray will now be offered in classic ink. Your best options for black ink are the Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad and the Tuxedo Black Momento Ink Pad. (Note: The Basic Gray Archival Ink-Refill will ruin the new Basic Gray Classic Stampin’ Pad.)
