It’s Almost … Valentine’s Day!

Hi, Everybody:

I don't know about you but … it seems like every time we go to the store they are advertising for a "holiday" that's way far away.  Yesterday, we went to Cracker Barrell and they already had Easter stuff out.  Time flies … doesn't it?!!

Well … because of that, I started thinking about Valentine's Day.  Can you believe it?!  It's less than a month away.  So … I was thinking about Valentine's cards.  One of the hardest things for me is the centiment that goes on the inside of the card.  In fact, sometimes I just avoid it altogether.  Anyway, I thought I'd try to get ahead and start thinking of things/sayings to go on the inside of my Valentines.  Really … isn;t that perhaps the most important part of the card — the part where you share your heart (Valentines) that makes it a true treasure for the person you are sending it to?  Coupled with all the time you spent on the front, makes handmade cards a priceless work of art!

So … my posts for the rest of the month will address the insides of our cards.

I can think of no better to place to start than the Bible.  When I make Valentine's cards for the children in my Sunday School class, often I start with John 3:16.  Here's a picture of the inside of one of my Valentine's Cards — my message to the kids is that "they are a Princess/Prince because their DAD is the KING OF KINGS!"  The inside (pictured here) contains John 3:16.

With that said … today's Valentine's Verses are …

  • For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  (John 3:16)

  • Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude , it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails.  (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

I'll be posting more Valentines quotes over the next couple of weeks.  I have to be funny and cute — my husband has to have funny so … that's next.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until then … LOTS of Rubber Hugs!!

I had my very first class at Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire, Inc., with participants in our ADVANCE program.  This program assists people who have experience a traumatic brain injury — they train them to perform activities of daily living and … ultimately, our goal is to assist them in finding employment.  They did an awesome job.  This is a card that one of the participants made.  I was so proud of all of them.

Good Morning:

I would like to intorduce you to TIGGER, the newest member of our family.  Tigger is about 4½ weeks old.  He was discovered in a tractor, fortunately before the unthinkable happened.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!

March On …

In March, we hit the ground running with Beautiful Wings.  I let my hostesses pick the stamp set or Sizzix® die that we feature that month.  My first hostess selected Beautiful Wings and she chose to also have a party.  I call the parties Chics and Chocolate.  The hostess provide the Chics and the Chocolate — I provide the entertainment.  For that event we featured Flower Fancy and Garden Giggles (created by one of my favorite designers, Gretchen Barron).  I scaled them to fit on the Fancy Favor Box.

My next two hostesses featured each featured Lanuage of Friendship and then they each picked a different one.  Lanuage of Friendship fits perfectly with Stampin' Up!'s Bird Builder Punch.  In this card, I also featured the Boho Blossoms Punch.  Isn't it FUN!!!  I love working with the punches.

The final cards we made in March featured Nature's Nest and Uncharted Territory.  The card we created using Nature's Nest features a new technique to me called "polished stone".  It was fun though … I'll be using that one again.  Lighthouses are one of my favorite things.  As a Christian, lighthouses symbolize the Holy Spirit's direction in my life — He lights our way with our path seems unclear protecting us from major obstacles.  One of my obstacles was late detection breast cancer.  With his help, we surpassed the odds and I'm writing this to you 11 years later.  God is truly faithful to us — we just have to trust Him.  So … this completes my list for March.

From my heart, I thank you for making my business what it is.  My hostesses and my customers are the BEST!!!  They are the true success of my business and the BEST FRIENDS EVER!!!!

Here Comes The Bride …

Hi, Everybody:

This particular design is one of my favorites for weddings or bridal showers.  I made it originally for Lauren and Phillip, our pastor's daughter and her husband, for their bridal shower in June 2010.  I know … "you're just sharing it with us!!!"  Yes … but "better late than never."  I have used this design for other weddings though — Mandi and Gerald's wedding, too.  It's just FUN and perfect for the occasion!!!  I change the colors to match what the bride chooses for her wedding.

Actually, I can't take credit for this card. I was inspired by a card posted on "Stampin' Connection" — a community for Stampin' Up Demonstrators.  It takes me forever design a card (at least 4 hours) … but I can CASE or copy anything … and you know, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

February: Mixed Bunch

Greetings from Georgia!!

In February, I created cards using my FAVORITE new stamp set — Mixed Bunch.  Mixed Bunch was introduced in Stampin' Up!'s 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog, which was available through April 30, 2012.  BUT …  GUESS WHAt??!!  It made it into the 2012-2013 Idea Book & Catalog.  I am so excited.  I just gravitate to the whimsical looking flower stamps.  Mixed Bunch also has a punch that coordinates with it — sized perfectly for the designs called Blossom Punch.  It made it to the new catalog, too.  YEAH!!!

OK … about the cards.  The card to your left was designed by one of my favorite designers, Connie Babbert.  The card on your right was inspired by make and takes that attendees made at the 2012 Leadership Conference.  This card was designed by Cristena Bagne.  The recipes for the cards are:

Stamp Sets:   Mixed Bunch, Curly Label

Paper:            Pool Party, Lucky Limemade, Pool Party, Whisper White, Everyday Enchantment DSP

Ink Colors:     Poppy Parade, Pool Party

Accessories:   Big Shot, Elegant Lines Embossing Folder, Labels Collection Framelit Dies, Movers and Shapers XL Die, Blossom Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Modern Label Punch, Pool Party 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon, 2011-2013 In Color Designer Printed Brads, Stampin' Dimensionals

Stamp Sets:    Mixed Bunch, Curly Cute

Paper:             Whisper White

Ink Colors:      Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz

Happy Stampin'!!

January Club Cards

Just wanted to share some cards that I've created this year.  Since it's been such a hectic year so far, I'm behind in my posts.  April and May (so far) have been GREAT.  You'll be able to tell … some are Valentines, those were made mostly in January.  Oh … I also re-started our Recipe club, which is included in all three of my clubs.  More about that later.  Here come the cards.

The stamp sets featured featured are Just Believe and P.S. I Love You (available from Stampin' Up!).  Oh … P.S. I Love You is not in the new catalog so … let me know if you'd like it.  I'll see if I can find it for you.

I'll post the February cards tomorrow … and by the end of the week, we'll be caught up!!

Have a GREAT day and … Thanks for stopping by.

2012 … LIFE!!

Hi, Everybody:

I just wanted you to know that, although life has bee crazy for me this year, I haven't stopped stampin'.  But … I haven't posted much here and just wanted to give you an update as to what's going on in my life.  In December, when I went to visit with my family over Christmas, my mother was in the hospital with a UTI.  It acted a LOT like a virus and all of my family had it (including me).  I guess they cleared up the infection but … in January, right before my mother's 90th birthday, she was again hospitalized again with Congestive Heart Failure caused by another UTI.  She miraculously survived it and we moved her to a rehab facility.  Since then my mother has come home and is doing remarkably well.  We moved both of my parents to "the cottage" and, although, blind, she has learned to manuver around the house.  Then … in February, I had plastic surgery — basal cell carcinoma.  In March, "Mister P", our beloved kitty, died just after his 6th birthday.  You know … my kitties are my kids.  This was very traumatic — I called "Mister P" — "the Mommy's Baby Boy".  And … he was just that.  He went with me everywhere.  (Mister P is the black kitty in this picture.)  I miss him so much!!  Anyway, I just wanted you to know what's been going on with me.  My next post will be of the cards I've taught in club this year — there'll be a lot of them (I have 3 clubs a month) — and that will be followed with a tutorial for the Telescope Card.

Have a wonderful day!!  You are loved!!

Love Out Loud: Face-to-Face

Each year our church does Love Out Loud.  This year it was on February 12, 2012, and … we wanted to give it a personal touch.  It is a day of ministering all over our community to people with a personal touch.

This year we had one team go to the laundromat and actually pay for people's laundry.  Another team went to our local jail and talked with the inmates housed there.  Other teams handed out Bibles, did yard work, visiting people in nursing homes and those who are confined to their homes.  We even had one team that had a party planned specifically for children with special needs.  It was an AWESOME day!!

But … I want to tell you about my team … it was the Card-Making and Delivery Team.  We made over 250 greeting cards and delivered them the the staff of the nursing home and retirement center in Rincon and Springfield, Georgia.

Other teams delivered our cards to those involved in our Homebound Ministry (those confined to their homes) and to the Emergency Responders in Rincon.

Have a wonderful day!!

Love ya!!!
